Sheet Metal Work

Sheet Metal WorkRoofing projects often call for a wide range of skilled work beyond laying down shingles or applying membranes. For example, sheet metal works are often required for edging and ornamental pieces. Raincoat Roofing has a professional staff of proficient tradesmen for roofing sheet metal works. For metal roofs, sheet metal works are a vital part of roofing applications.

Materials Of Construction For Sheet Metal Works

While many people think of stainless steel when they think about sheet metal works, we work with a number of different metals and alloys in order to fit the right application.

  • Aluminum: is a lightweight material that makes for rust proof sheet metal works. They are great for many features such as louvers. This metal comes in a number of different colors and is malleable enough to easily work into any shape needed. However, aluminum cannot be soldered so sheet metal works made from this metal require liquid sealants.
  • Copper: Unlike aluminum sheet metal works, copper can be soldered together for watertight joints. However, copper will discolor with time and requires a clear sealant to prevent this from occurring. Alternatively, copper can be plated with lead in order to offer more protection against acid rain and other sources of corrosion.
  • Stainless steel: Sheet metal works made from stainless steel are often the most durable and long lasting. Of course, this also means that they are the most expensive. We perform most of our stainless steel sheet metal works in house and then transport them to a job site.
  • Galvanized Steel: this material is used for superior rust protection. Galvanized steel has a zinc layer that protects the steel underneath from rust and corrosion for many years. Galvanized sheet metal works enjoy a long service life free from corrosion.
